No ethical moment is as palpable, as invigorating and as real as when one makes a new year's resolution. In this case, we are entering a new decade, and we have the chance to reinvent our lives altogether. We make bold decisions that can improve our health, our careers, and even improve our world as a whole. What have you resolved to do in the next year? Or the next 10 years?

I don't do long-term or
I don't do long-term or long distance planning well. Oh, I can have a general destination in mind and use a compass to check that I don't get too far off, but the goal remains flexible, and north-west can easily become the old north. I'm not focused on how much I'll weigh next January first - I'm thinking about next meal and the choices involved. And one way to assure you never fail is to not define failure. And who needs to fail? Not me. I'll leave that to those who seem to enjoy beating themselves up or living with regret and emotional chaos.
So my goal is to enjoy lunch, wherever that might be. 30 minutes on the bike might be good too. January 1, 2010 I'll take a few minutes and reflect on the past but I'll make no promises as to what the distant future will hold. I'm more of a "present" gal. For better or worse.
