Staff Pick of the Week: ARBOR BREWING COMPANY

If you are brave enough to venture downtown during Art Fair, stop in at Arbor Brewing Company at 114 W. Washington in Ann Arbor. Between Fourth Avenue and Main. Outdoor seating, locally crafted beer, and a bold new commitment to local foods and the environment. Over the course of this year, ABC has committed to creating dishes with local foods. Read their menu for a look at how they have championed the cause of Localism in Ann Arbor. Michigan-caught fish, meats, locally grown produce, all combine to make for a very guilt-free dining experience. The atmosphere is youthful and postive. The smoking and gaming room has hosted huge parties celebrating liberal causes and local sports. This bar can be many things. Sometime sportsbar, sometime family restaurant, sometime meeting place for Michigan Peaceworks and host of the Peace Cafe, for local musicians to play. This is a conscious, civic-minded organization. And the beer is good too. A sampler of their beers used to be a huge undertaking, and tons of fun. It would expose you to a fine variety of their local brews, and would surely leave you schnockered. Two beautiful private rooms are available for rent. A large room and also a cozy basement room, both with the same neo-classic hip atmosphere of a real locals joint.
