A Cure for Voter Fatigue

I'm getting tired of this endless primary season. It's a bad TV show that isn't getting cancelled. From an ethics point of view, they're not doing what's best for the nation, or even for their own party. Here are some ideas for the Clinton and Obama campaigns that might make one of them surge ahead. 1. Start attacking McCain and Bush. Quit attacking each other. Leave the attacks to the pundits. 2. Stop trying to appeal to working class voters. The drinking, the shooting, the bowling, etc, all make you look very foolish. Play to your own strengths. I don't care which president I'd rather have a beer with. I'm looking for the president who will bring the cost of beer down. 3. Negotiate the possibility that you will be splitting the ticket. You would win. Who gets to be on top? Take a look at Cheney and Bush. It seems that the role of Vice President is a pretty powerful one. 4. Use your celebrity endorsements now more than ever. If they support you financially, they should be speaking up for you in public forums. 5. Watch your back. News media is in the hands of the people. Anything you do or say can be put into a blog and become very popular. 6. Stay on message. 7. Fly to the Middle East and walk through the streets like McCain did. Tell us first-hand what the situation is over there. 8. After you're finished attacking McCain, appear as friendly as you can with him. Show your bipartisan spirit. 9. Show your leadership skills now. This is the try-out. 10. For God's sake, be real. 11. Be the solution. 12. Don't let them box you into a corner. Attack the Right. Don't alienate the Left. Don't split the voters into factions. 13. Embrace Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio's Green issues with full heart. The environment is an easy issue. You usually come out on the right side. 14. Talk about your family and how much you love and respect them. 15. Don't dance or sing or play an instrument, no matter what. 16. Talk to the people. Roll up your sleeves. 17. Straighten out Michigan voters while you're criss-crossing to your next destination. Just drop in, so we know you haven't forgotten us.
